Being found when a patient asks an AI where to go

What makes your booking page readable by a search engine or an assistant, what it actually delivers, and the four fields that decide the rest.

9 min readUpdated

A patient moving to Lévis no longer looks up "physiotherapist" in a directory. They ask their phone, in one sentence, and read the answer they are given.

Your booking page is public and could be part of that answer. But a search engine first has to know it exists and understand what it describes — and that is where almost every clinic stops, without realising it.

This guide covers what to fill in to be eligible, in what order, and where to place your expectations. It does not show you where to click; the help centre already does that.

Why the city decides everything

A machine reading your page has to answer one simple question: which clinic is this, and where.

Your page address carries your name, not your location. Two clinics can perfectly well share a name in Saint-Georges and in Montréal, and nothing in the web address separates them. It is the city in your clinic information that makes the difference.

With it, your page answers "a clinic near me" — the question people actually ask. It is the field that turns a findable page into a suggested one.

This is the most commonly empty field, because the setup wizard does not ask for it up front. It lives in your clinic information, takes two minutes, and it governs everything that follows in this guide.

The four fields that make a page understandable

You fill them in once. After that they work on their own.

EssentialThe full address

Street, city, province, postal code. The city is the field that answers "near me".

≈ 2 min
EssentialBookable services

A service must be active and open to booking to exist in a search engine's eyes. Name them the way a patient would.

≈ 10 min
UsefulThe phone number

Many people are looking for a number, not a form. It also confirms this is a real business.

≈ 1 min
UsefulOpening hours

The hours when somebody answers, not your therapists' availability. They answer "open on Saturday?".

≈ 5 min

On service names, the gap between "Eval 60" and "Initial physiotherapy assessment" is not cosmetic. The first matches no question a patient asks. The second answers "how much is a first physio visit", which is exactly the kind of question people put to an assistant.

The highest-return step

It does not depend on Bio6, it takes five minutes, and it produces results in days rather than weeks.

Your Google Business Profile is already consulted, already ranked, and already cited by assistants. It has an Appointment link field, under Edit profile → Contact. Paste your booking page address there.

That does two things at once. It brings real patients immediately, along the path people already take. And it confirms to search engines that this page and your clinic are the same business — without it, they may treat them as two competing listings.

If you have a website, add the same link there. If you do not, your booking page becomes your web presence, and this guide counts double.

What it delivers

Worth knowing where to place your expectations: this channel works on specific questions, and it works over time.

What you can expect
  • A page search engines can find, with a clean title and preview when the link is shared
  • A real chance on specific questions: "book physio in Lévis", "clinic open Saturday near…"
  • Clicks from your Google listing, within the first week
  • A readable web presence even without a website, which is the case for most clinics
What it does not replace
  • Your Google listing on your clinic's name: it will stay first, and that is exactly as it should be
  • Your other channels: this captures people already searching, it does not create demand
  • A bought position: no platform sells a place in an AI answer, to you or to your competitors
  • Control of your schedule: an assistant can check your availability and pass on a request, never book an appointment itself

That last point is a choice, not a technical limit. A time announced in an AI answer and already taken by the time the patient arrives costs more than no time at all. So the page points to the real schedule, which is correct at the moment it is read.

Turning it on

Nothing is suggested without your agreement. By default your page explicitly asks search engines not to index it: it stays reachable by direct link and QR code, but is suggested to nobody.

The switch is in Settings → Online booking → General, under "Search and AI visibility". It appears once online booking is enabled.

Do the earlier sections first. Turning on a page that carries neither an address nor a service means becoming visible with nothing to say — and it is the address that decides whether you can be offered to someone searching "near me".

Exactly what the switch allows: search engines may suggest your page, and AI assistants may check your real availability and pass on an appointment request. A request follows your usual confirmation rules — it never writes an appointment straight into your schedule.

You can turn it off at any time, and the switch stays reachable even if you pause online booking.

How to check

Two reliable signals, and one to ignore.

Open your booking page and read it as someone who does not know you. The name, the city, the services, the prices: that is exactly what a machine will read there. If something looks vague to you, it will be vague to it too.

Then share the link in a text message. The preview that appears should show your clinic name and a sensible description — the same information search engines use.

Do not use ChatGPT as a measuring instrument. Answers vary from one time to the next, change with the wording, and trail indexing by several weeks. Rely on the two checks above instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is my page published automatically?

No. By default your page explicitly asks search engines not to index it — it stays reachable by direct link or QR code, but is suggested to nobody. The switch is yours, in Settings → Online booking → General, and turns off just as easily.

How long before I see anything?

The link in your Google listing produces clicks within days — that is the immediate gain, and it depends only on you. Search engine indexing follows over two to eight weeks. Assistant citations come after that, at a pace nobody controls.

Does this replace a website?

For being found and booking, often yes. For telling people who you are, your approach and your team, no. The booking page answers "where, when, how much" — not "why you".

What if another clinic has the same name as mine?

That is precisely what the address and phone number settle. A machine does not tell two clinics apart by name; it tells them apart by city, postal code and number. That is the reason for this guide's first section.

Does this cost anything?

No. It is included, and the steps that matter most — filling in your address, adding the link to your Google listing — cost only the time to do them.
